Race Day Recycling Earns Bronze Award for Pelham Girl Scouts

Emily, Lindsey, Kacie, Morgan and Sara of Troop 501 in Pelham wanted to combine a project that involved healthy lifestyle and caring for the environment for their Bronze Award. They contacted a race volunteer coordinator and gathered the supplies to recycle water bottles from runners at the 2nd Annual Women’s Health 5K run. The girls learned about how much planning is involved in a project, and thanks to some unpleasant weather, learned about the importance of preparedness and safety.

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn. This award recognizes that a Girl Scout Junior has gained the leadership and planning skills required to follow through with a project that makes a positive difference in her community.
