Prior to completing her project, Kate’s church did not have an outdoor
area for people to reflect or spend time in prayer. A landscapist for a local
golf course helped Kate draw up the plans for the garden and helped her pick
out appropriate plants and flowers. To make sure she didn’t hit utility lines
when she started digging holes, Kate contacted Call Before You Dig to mark the
lines. With the help of some church volunteers, Kate made some concrete benches
and a giant concrete cross that now sits in the middle of the garden. People have
already used the garden for Sunday School classes, small groups and communion
on Palm Sunday.
