Troop 30182 Spreads Love for Music and Earns Silver Award

Girl Scout Troop 30182 members Salem and
Savana, students at Thompson Middle School, and Nelsonya, student a Calera Middle School, recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. The girls wanted to share their love of music of others, so they taught kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Montevallo how to play flutophones. The girls held a week-long seminar to teach the children. Through their project, the girls learned public speaking skills, and that leadership skills are needed in everyday situations. The girls hope the children they taught will foster a greater love for music and that they will continue to learn more about playing an instrument.

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. This award symbolizes a Girl Scout Cadette's accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as she matures and works to better her life and the lives of others.
