BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. –April 27, 2015–
KaiLian
Q. Davis, Grace Bagwell and Anna Karg,
9th graders in Hoover and members of Girl Scout Troop 87, recently
earned their Girl Scout Silver Award. Their project, Book Buddies, was
developed in order to collect and distribute books for underprivileged
children. The ongoing work included creating hand-made book bags. They used
community outreach to collect necessary items such as books and T-shirts. With
the help of services in their community, they identified places where they
could reach groups of children. The girls successfully shared their love of
reading and demonstrated the importance of sharing.
The Girl
Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. This
award symbolizes a Girl Scout Cadette's accomplishments in Girl Scouting and
community activities as she matures and works to better her life and the lives
of others.
